Welcome Back to School!

Computer class started off in a terrific way!  All of the students are well rested and ready to learn new concepts.

Kindergarteners are getting acquainted with the library and the computer lab - however most are computer whizzes already.  We are learning about the parts of a book and how the library works.  In computers, we are learning about the basics of drawing programs and how to identify and use tools.

First Graders are on there way!  They are writing their name using paint tools and creating fabulous seasonal pictures.  We are getting ready to learn all about the keyboard.

Second Graders are doing great!  They are learning to change fonts in Microsoft Word.  We typed our names in all different shapes, sizes and colors.  What fun we are having!

Third Graders are having fun.  We are working on their typing skills and practicing new keys!  We hope to be able to type without looking by the end of the year!

Fourth Graders are amazing researchers!!! They have just begun a major research project involving both print and on-line research.  They will create a multimedia presentation involving animation, sound, and facts about their animal.  At the conclusion, we will have an event where they can showcase their projects -- be looking for an announcement!

Fifth Graders are becoming authors!  They are working in groups developing and creating Halloween stories that will be shared with the younger students.  They will be using programs like Inspiration and Easy Book.

Sixth Graders are really excited!  They are developing and creating a PowerPoint presentation on varying, popular topics.  They will expand their knowledge of the program and show something from our current time -- whether it is a popular clothing trend or current event -- we should all learn something new!

Seventh Graders are on their way!  We will begin the year with a mystery game.  Students will learn all about Microsoft Access and databases.

Eighth Graders are ready to go!  We are all excited as we research our dream car.  We will look at the financial side of this issue and use Microsoft Excel to calculate several different car payment schedules. Vroom vroom -- I think they will be in for a surprise!

Please feel free to stop by and visit us in the library and check out the exciting projects in our room.  We hope to see you soon.
