Welcome to Second Grade!

My name is Cathy Trotter and I will be your child’s teacher this year.  I am so excited about the new school year!

As a parent, I know how important your child’s education is to you. I am committed to creating a caring, supportive, learning environment for your child. I will encourage your child to strive for success and will work with you to ensure a positive learning experience. As partners in your child’s education, together we can achieve more! Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions during the school year.

I am attaching some important information to help prepare you for the new school year. Also, please complete the interview form and send it back with your child by September 13th. This will help me learn more about your child’s special interests and talents!

I am delighted to have your child in my class, and I look forward to a rewarding school year!

D.E.A.R Time (Drop Everything and Read):

Every Day, we will be setting aside time for silent, independent reading. The children may read materials of their choice. Books are available in our classroom and the school library.

I am happy to celebrate birthdays in school. If you wish to send in a special treat, it must follow the school’s nutrition policy and be approved by the school nurse one day in advance due to food allergies. Please send me a note or give me a call so that I can plan accordingly.  We strongly encourage non-food items. I would ask that you do not distribute birthday invitations in school unless the entire class is invited in order to avoid hurt feelings. Thank you for your cooperation with this sensitive matter.
