My approach to

literacy is to incorporate language

arts across the curriculum while meeting the

individual needs of each student.

Specifically, students will be engaged in

differentiated activities that promote

tiered-level success founded on an

evaluated baseline ability. The primary

focus of daily instruction will include a

15 minute mini-lesson on a specific

Common Core Standard. From this,

students will independently work to

increase their understanding while

rotating through centers - including one

which is direct instruction with the

teacher. During this small group work,

students will participate in guided reading

with the teacher and have individual

reading and writing conferences. Daily

assessments and self/peer/teacher

evaluation will foster a progressive

learning style that encourages

curiosity, esteem, and overall

academic discipline and achievement.
